Family Tradition
Gehring’s Meat Market, Inc. is a family owned and operated business since 1983, located just 1 mile west of Hwy 41 and 1 mile east of St. Lawrence on Hwy. K. Charlie and Maureen (Murph) started the business together operating a tavern in 1980, then remodeling by adding on a small meat market in 1983. The business quickly grew and moved into the garage located behind the tavern. Charlie and Maureen then purchased 5 acres of land and built the current meat market building in 1991. There have been numerous additions since opening, with the last one being the slaughterhouse in 2003. Before the slaughterhouse was built, Charlie had a mobile slaughter truck that he used to go to the farms and slaughter the animals and then transported them back to the shop for processing. Charlie and Maureen’s eldest son Bob joined the business full time in 2004, and was later joined by his brother Ben in 2010.

The highest standards of safety and sanitation are followed at our plant through our H.A.C.C.A.P. program, and cleanliness and quality are a highly valued premium in our business.
